Borrowing a phrase from the Irish Jesuits recent statement to RTE I’ll just say that it is my understanding that those 45 - at the last count - Jesuits who are credibly accused of child sexual abuse will be named in November. Well, it’s about time.
Two Belvedere names, I can confirm will be amongst them, are Finbarr Lynch SJ and Brendan Kearney SJ.
I hope soon to be able to give more details about the life and crimes of Paul Andrews SJ, Rector of Belvedere at the time when Marmion was confronted about abusing boys and, terrifyingly, a paedophile who “treated” some 10,000 children during his career.
It feels wrong to "like" your posts about this scandal, Tom but it all needs airing. We need to be able to click on something that means "this makes me bl**** angry". In the meantime, I shall have to just "like" as I do appreciate this writing, Tom.
